Moore

It's astounding.

Left Okemah one week ago today to play at the South East Regional Folk Alliance in NorthCarolina and to do some songwriting in Nashville along the way....

And just before leaving, I threw some moonflower and morning glory seeds in the ground, and planted some cucumber, zucchini, and squash seeds; and finally got more onions in the ground....

And now, I'm home.

And in one week, all the seeds have sprouted and are up, along with everything else in the garden.

And on Monday, most of the city of Moore was razed to the ground within less than an hour by an F-5 tornado.
And Okemah dodged a bullet....
Here's a rough draft of a song i'm workin on....

Begin Again
(Moore, Oklahoma)

Watch the storms roll in
Fairweather friends
We can't stop the winds from blowin
And in the end, in the end, we begin again

Caught in Little Rock
Watch as now what's not
We can't stop the winds from blowin
And in the end, in the end, we begin again

Out from Nashville to the coast
Round the Blue Ridge I think of Moore the most
On the open plains from Asheville
Sirens sound, diving down, cling for life underground

Are you still within
The wreckage and the falling in
We can't stop the winds from blowin
And in the end, in the end, we begin again

Oh, these souls! Oh, this season!
There is no rhyme or reason.

We rise up
We get knocked down
Cleaning up
Rebuild our hope around
We can't stop the winds from blowin
And in the end, in the end, we begin again
Yes, in the end, in the end, we begin again
In the end, in the end, we begin again.

Roscoe Peepers

In the end we begin again and again we begin.
Flowers peep out on this scared ground.
Again and again we rebuild this town.....it is a tragedy---and 30,000 gun deaths each year in the US....24 in moore from a freak of nature----write a song about 16000 gun suicides each year--- mental illness...guns...Most murders are by significant others..."Others"--- And our hearts break and break and we keep on planting flowers, herbs and veggies-- post if you must... but ...maybe not... in the end it takes more courage to NOT rebuild but --to move on to something better.... to move to the Land of the Living
I just muse. oo
